About the Artwork
For me, analogue is a counter-force to the digital. In Byung-Chul Han's terms, the digital world is ruled by smoothness; surfaces without friction or depth, where ambiguity is erased and everything becomes instantly legible and consumable. 'Seamful' resists this regime: its frayed edges, ruptured surface, and stitched interruptions introduce the 'noise' smoothness excludes, inviting a tactile hesitation rather than a seamless glide. Roland Barthes' punctum also guides my approach: the detail that pricks, anchors, and intensifies perception. These disruptions act as puncta, reclaiming texture and the material trace, drawing the viewer into a slower, more embodied encounter.
