About the Artwork
Cavity inhabits a space between collapse and becoming, where beauty and violence coexist. Drawing on mythological representations of women as muses, monsters, and mothers, it reclaims rage as a force of transformation rather than destruction. The stretched, hybrid forms evoke a body resisting containment and fixed identity, embracing queerness through fluidity, fragmentation, and becoming. Gold surfaces reference relics and mythic objects, while fleshy membranes and exposed cavities disrupt ideas of purity and permanence. The cavity functions as both wound and opening—a site of loss, resilience, and the possibility of new forms of power.
