About the Artwork

I am interested in tapestry not simply as a decorative medium, but as a historical recording device. Works such as the Bayeux Tapestry and the textile version of Guernica function as woven documents of power and conflict. Translating an image of my painting of an atomic test into tapestry form places nuclear history within this lineage. For me, this medium allows me to create editions of my large paintings (which take months, even years to make) instead of creating straightforward giclee prints. It also adds to the layers of meaning and intrigue.

Edition of 15 with 2APs.
