About the Artwork
This painting depicts a distorted body with elongated limbs and fused anatomies that overflow the canvas, pairing alluring gazes with psychological unrest. It reflects my ongoing effort to embed sculptural and historical narratives within painting, developing a visual language that is both distinctive and achievable within a domestic setting. Raw household materials, including tumble dryer lint, are incorporated to ground these narratives materially. Their presence introduces the residue of hidden domestic labour, exposing the unseen friction of everyday life while exploring the relationship between abjection and beauty. The work transforms ordinary waste into a powerful conceptual and tactile element.
