About the Artwork
The works presented here are concerned with the boundaries of human perception, how some people seem to see more than others, how people have misunderstood science for magic, and how women have been persecuted for knowing the secrets of nature.
Materials are endlessly reworked and reused which lends a sense of a prescribed limitation to the creative process. This process requires surrendering control, allowing failure to happen successfully and elevating imperfection. There is an exploration of material sensitivity, tactility and transformation in the work which reflects on fragility and containment, using fabric as both surface and subject.
