In the analogue world we will still be getting our hands dirty.

In this picture I show mopping and wearing yellow Marigold gloves as a way to restore order to a cosmos out of balance, with the mop handles as dynamic as laser-beams, and the mop-men coming to back-up Mme. Matisse. The grocery delivery van is arriving and Mickey Mouse is keeping our spirits up, amongst this eternal drudgery and unrelenting domesticity (of the analogue world).

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jane Ostler (b.1958) received their BA (Honours) First Class in Painting from Bath Academy of Art in 1980 and MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, London in 1986.

Jane has been exhibited widely, including: Sophie Horton, Exhibition Catalogue, Goldsmiths Gallery (1989), 'The Serpentine Illusion', Building Design (1989); 'Jane Ostler: Finding the Hand of Kindness', @firstsite, Colchester, Essex (2024-2025), and more. Jane was awarded the British Council Travel Bursary in 1991, which was followed by features in 'Painting in Plovdiv' (1991) and 'Artists Handbooks Across Europe' (1992), AN Publications Account of artist's exchange between a British and a Bulgarian.
