About the Artwork

Nasturtium 7/10 V.E. is an original etching from a varied edition of 10. Each print in this series is uniquely finished by hand with
India ink and gold leaf, making every piece distinct. The work contrasts finely observed botanical etching with bold geometric forms, bringing organic detail and controlled abstraction into quiet balance.
Drawn and etched onto a steel plate, hand-printed by the artist and completed with ink and gold leaf, the piece reflects a fully hands-on process. Printed in 2025 on Arches Velin 250 gsm paper (21 x 30 cm), and signed and numbered on the reverse.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Maria Bygrove (b. 1983, Poland) is a Scotland-based illustrator and printmaker working primarily in drawing and etching. After an MA in Philosophy, she worked as a book cover designer before turning fully to art later in life. Her practice combines a design-informed sense of composition with patience, precision and slow, process-led techniques. She works from her home on an island off Scotland’s west coast.

Maria was awarded a VACMA Early Career Bursary in 2025 and has exhibited at Dunoon MOCA (2024) and The Six Foot Gallery, Glasgow (2024). Her work is also held at the Glasgow Print Studio Gallery.
