About the Artwork

Purge is an intuitive oil painting exploring the body as a site of pressure, release, and transformation. The figure pushes outward against its own edges, distorting and rippling as though caught between containment and eruption. Working without preliminary drawings, the painting emerges entirely from instinct, the process itself a form of purging. The sculptural quality of the surface blurs the boundary between painting and object, the forms swelling with a physicality that resists the flatness of the canvas. The work asks what it means for a body to make space for itself.
