About the Artwork

Stane, the Scots word for stone, is a collection inspired by Scotland’s rugged coastline and weathered stone architecture. Formed through undulating silhouettes and pierced with irregular apertures, each vessel bears the imprint of erosion and endurance.
Stane presents a palette of dark ash greys, weathered browns, buff beiges, with traces of off-whites, all derived from the artist’s photographic research into the Scottish landscape and architectural elements.
Surfaces are textured with traces of St Andrews sand, lending a raw tactility that echoes the rough beauty and uneven rhythm of the landscape from which the work emerges.
Cavities, shadows, and openings encourage the viewer to peer into the forms, tracing shifting relationships between interior and exterior, concealment and exposure.
Balancing fragility with strength, Stane celebrates imperfection as a record of transience, holding a tactile memory of weathered forms shaped not by symmetry or polish, but by persistence, erosion, and natural elements.
