About the Artwork
This work continues my engagement with traditional Chinese garden architecture, where windows and gates frame views and guide movement through layered spaces. These architectural openings are reimagined as portals through which memory and
cultural heritage can be glimpsed but never fully grasped.
Presented as a diptych, the work allows two temporalities to sit side by side. The darker panel suggests the fragmentary and obscured nature of the past, while the lighter panel opens toward the shifting clarity of the present. The garden becomes a space where past and present briefly meet, holding a sense of transition rather than resolution.
