About the Artwork

'Torso' is a wall-based sculpture one of several in Caroline Ingham’s series Meditations on my Body. Displayed below eye level ‘Torso’ folds in on itself inviting the viewer to peer into its interior and explore the internal surfaces and structure and consider how physical form holds traces of experience, endurance, resilience and transformation. The positioning of the work is integral to Caroline’s practice, fostering intimacy and promoting an awareness of the viewer’s own body in relation to it.
