About the Artwork

Plastic toy food is stuck to the letter R. Painted. Sealed in latex. Fleshy. Glossy. Sticky.
The R resonates through weight and excess.
A feminised body turned surface, built to be looked at, fed, consumed. Expectation and appetite cling. Presence piles up. Overwhelms. Shapes how you are seen.
From the bottom hangs a tiny u -YOU- on a chain, almost lost under the pile.
Stainless steel. Small. Hard. Holding on.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Asia Nowicki is a South East London-born, Brighton-based sculptor and graduate of Camberwell College of Arts. Her work has been exhibited across the UK and internationally including London, Paris, Zagreb and New York. Following a first-place award, she presented a solo exhibition at Nunnery Gallery with Bow Arts. She is currently undertaking an Arts Council England NLPG Research & Development project exploring hybrid ceramics combining kiln-fired clay and latex rubber. This follows a 2025 DYCP residency in New York focused on experimental glass. She co-founded Brighton Women Artists (BWA) and contributes to art publications including Sfumato.
