About the Artwork

Unfold Breeze Print 02 is a UV print on Breeze paper. It was made from light passing through a rotating table of gels, perspex and colour filters. The circular form at the centre accumulates as each colour layer occupies the same space. The red outer shape is the shadow of the material itself, cast as the light passes through. One moment from the rotation, held on paper.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Beate Sonnenberg (b. 1966, Cologne) is a German mixed media artist based in London. She studied at Bournemouth College of Art and has a lens-based practice exploring perception, light, and materiality. Her work has been exhibited at Photo London, Ferens Art Gallery (Hull), and Unit 1 Gallery Workshop. She held a solo exhibition, Simple Complexity, in London in 2022. Her video works were longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize (2024), and her work has been included in Aesthetica Magazine.
