With this piece I want to raise awareness around rare species. This White Panther is a symbol of a rarest of cats, attributed with a green samurai headband since samurais have a code of morals, a code for fighting herein a Green Fight. It brings a gift a Prey (not pray!) beads in its jaw promising us victory. About this beauty of a beast: A white panther may be called a white cougar, a white jaguar, or a white leopard depending where it is found the world.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Iulia (b.1985, Siberia) delves into nature & metaphysics via shamanism, environmental awareness, & consciousness. Her art, using reclaimed & elemental materials, spans installations, sculptures, & performances. Notable achievements include co-curating “Forging the Self” at The Koppel Gallery, having her photographic work shortlisted for the Salon Photo Prize 2011, and exhibiting at The Photographers’ Gallery and Photofusion. In 2019, she was awarded the Denis Diderot Grant for a residency at Château d’Orquevaux. She holds an MA in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths University and a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins.
