About the Artwork

IDEOGLIFOS is Edgar Racy’s visual language, in which words and ideas are transformed into symbolic forms inspired by the geometric elements of the Brazilian flag. Drawing on the ancient human impulse to communicate through symbols, each Ideoglifo represents a word and can exist individually or combine with others to form phrases and meanings. Racy materialises these symbols through different artistic and architectural elements, including columns and references to ancient architecture, creating a dialogue between language, form, cultural identity and contemporary society.
