Anna-Marie Gallares

Anna-Marie Gallares (b. 2001) is a Filipina-British artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. She graduated from the University of Sunderland with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, achieving First-Class Honours. Gallares is currently a Breakthrough Artist Fellow with the Artist Future Fund, a fellowship that provides her with a studio at the University of Sunderland, and was shortlisted for the North East Emerging Artist Award (2026–27), with a proposal exhibition at Seaton Delaval Hall. She was previously awarded the Middlesbrough Arts Week New Graduate Award and Residency in 2023. Her recent solo exhibitions include I Carry It With Me at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art’s Collection Space (2026) and PAGBUKLAD (Unfolding) at the Priestman Gallery, University of Sunderland (2026). Her practice has also been presented in group exhibitions at the Great North Museum: Hancock, The Customs House and Arts Centre Washington. In May 2026, her first UK solo exhibition was featured in The Northern Echo in the article “Filipina artist Anna-Marie Gallares’ first UK solo exhibition.” Her work and practice have also been featured in AN (Artist Now) Degree Show Guide 2023, where she was selected through an open call, as well as Chronicle Live and Culture North East.
