About the Artwork

This variable edition of paintings marks my first time using a foreign language, this departure from my native English helps with my distance from its meaning and its ability to be read by myself. The translation of ' Do Not Care About' is taken from previous works that utilised that phrase in a triangular motif, the triangle dictated by the numerical structure of letters in the words. With 'Je Ne Me Soucie Pas De' the custom form of the work is dictated by the structure of language, resulting in cross shaped surface.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Alex Jones (b. 1987) is a BA Fine Art Sculpture graduate from the University of Brighton. His solo exhibitions include Je Ne Me Soucie Pas De in Grenoble, France (2024) and P is just R with one leg in Brighton (2023). His work has been featured in group exhibitions at Glyndebourne and Volta Art Fair in New York. He received the InPrint Award in 2018 and was shortlisted for the Szpilman Award in 2012.
